BMB at PLAST 2026: technology, reliability and performance for a new era in injection moulding.
PLAST 2026 is a key event for the plastics industry. At a time when the market is showing a strong desire to meet in person once again and experience the sector’s technological evolution first-hand, BMB has chosen to take centre stage once more, bringing to the fair a selection of injection moulding machines with optimised designs, engineered in line with the values that have distinguished the company for almost 60 years: robustness, reliability, production continuity and a focus on energy consumption.

A company with a history of technical continuity.
Founded in Brescia in 1967 by Mr Egidio Bugatti, BMB has built a record of steady growth based on technical vision, industrial solidity and design consistency. A family history reflected in the market’s trust and the company’s ability to maintain its identity and philosophy even amidst technological evolution.
The 2026 edition of PLAST confirms this trajectory: the technologies on display, design, mechanics and assembly all reflect the BMB style, which was also appreciated by the 40 international publications that visited the factory on 26 February as part of a ‘PLAST Preview Tour! In Italy’.
BMB technologies on display at PLAST 2026
The first three cells will be on display at the BMB stand (Hall 22, Stand A101-B116):
✅ eKW45HP/3450 WP Hybrid – 4500kN
Speed, robustness and control for high-productivity packaging.

Product: 30 ml medical cup
48 cavities
Cycle time: 3.0 s; Wall thickness: 0.3 mm
Material: Borealis PP Random RJ766MO

The eKW45HP/3450WP Hybrid machine is the first in a new series of BMB machines designed for the high-productivity caps and closures, packaging and medical sectors. The machine is based on a proven modular platform, specifically suited to packaging production applications. The injection unit is configured for fast response times and precise control of melt mass, ensuring quality and repeatability. The dynamic heart of the machine is the exclusive, very lightweight injection piston, designed for fast and precise movements. During injection, the entire structure remains stationary, including the injection unit, carriage, motor and flanges, whilst only the piston moves. The hydraulically driven ejection unit ensures ejection with force and speed, but can be replaced with an electric drive, depending on requirements. The barrel motor has increased torque to optimise plasticisation at low melt flow rates. The hydraulic injection system, featuring a servo-pump, accumulators and a double servo-valve, represents the ideal combination for achieving injection speeds exceeding 1,500 mm/s, which is necessary for ultra-thin walls. The iQ-Pump offers significant energy savings by shutting down the pump motor unit once the accumulators are charged. The clamping unit, featuring a completely redesigned BMB toggle mechanism, utilises shortened connecting rods and reduced reaction times to achieve rapid opening and closing with perfect parallelism. The movement of the moving table on self-lubricating prismatic guides is particularly close to the centre of the machine, thanks to the innovative design of the table, resulting in greater stability and the ability to use particularly heavy, multi-cavity or stack-type moulds.
One of the most important characteristics required of a packaging machine is its durability. This has been the company’s guiding principle in the machine’s design from the outset and has informed every design decision, from the base design to the choice of components. At the trade fair, the machine is configured for the production of graduated dosing devices for the medical sector.
Key features:
- Ultra-lightweight injection piston, the only moving part in the unit, for maximum speed and responsiveness.
- Hydraulic injection with servo-pump, accumulators and dual servo-valve → injection speed of over 1500 mm/s.
- Completely redesigned BMB clamping mechanism for ultra-fast opening/closing and perfect parallelism.
- Self-lubricating prismatic guides and optimised platen design for high loads and multi-cavity/stack moulds.
- Design focus on structural durability → ideal for 24-hour continuous production with minimal maintenance.
✅ eKW38Pi/2200 WP Full Electric – 3800 kN
Absolute precision for the caps and closures sector

Product: cosmetic flip-top cap
16 cavities
Cycle time: 10 s
Material: Borealis RF777MO

The eKW38Pi/2200 Full Electric machine on display at the trade fair produces a flip-top cap for the cosmetics industry; through this application, BMB aims to highlight the extreme flexibility of the eKW series presses, whether they are fully electric, as in this case, hybrid with hydraulic injection powered by accumulators, to achieve higher injection speeds, or hydraulic with a servo-pump, for high tonnages. In the caps and closures sector targeted by this application, it is essential to ensure high consistency and, once again, low energy consumption.
With the eKW series, the company aims to meet these requirements, thanks in part to the unique design of the BMB toggle clamping system, characterised by a central clamping force and the electrification of all movements, resulting in improved precision, consistent shot weight and energy savings.
BMB’s research into improving electric injection moulding machines has focused primarily on increasing injection speed, which is still some way off the speeds achievable with hydraulic injection, but is steadily rising and approaching 500 mm/s; Much attention has also been paid to reducing mould opening time, with increased opening and closing speeds thanks to direct-drive motors and motion transmitted via roller recirculating screws, which ensure reliability and much higher performance compared to actuators with ball recirculating screws, which are subject to wear and require more frequent and costly maintenance. In the application showcased at the trade fair, the precision of the moulded part is particularly evident in the area affected by unscrewing and mould closure.
Key features:
- BMB toggle-type clamping system with force applied at the centre of the platen → precision and consistency.
- High energy efficiency thanks to the full electrification of the movements.
- Injection speed of up to 500 mm/s, increasingly approaching the performance of hydraulic systems.
✅ eKW28Pi/1300 WP Full Electric – 2800 kN
Energy efficiency without compromising on performance.

Product: 250 ml food container – 4 cavities
IML label
Cycle time: 3 s
Material: Total PPC 12642

The third workstation showcased at the trade fair is designed to further highlight the importance of reducing energy consumption without compromising productivity or product quality. The machine stands out for its high performance, with an injection speed of 500 mm/s and particularly rapid opening and closing cycles, perfectly combining productivity with reduced energy consumption, even in an extreme scenario such as that demonstrated at the trade fair, where the complete cycle takes less than 3 seconds, with a robot cycle time of over half a second.
With this machine, BMB offers a solution capable of producing at least 120,000 containers per day, requiring 60,000 opening and closing cycles per day, every day, without breaks or machine downtime, for years of production. In other words, extremely high levels of productivity with the low energy consumption typical of an electric press and the reliability of a mechanical system. The eKW28Pi/1300 full-electric machine utilises a 50 mm plasticising screw that generates a specific injection pressure of 2,000 bar, necessary for filling and compacting a product with a wall thickness of 0.4 mm. All axes are servo-assisted and the overlapping of movements helps to save time, resulting in a shorter cycle time and consistent part weight.
Key features:
- Injection speed: 500 mm/s
- Reduced open-mould times thanks to direct-drive motors and recirculating roller screws (more reliable than ball screws).
- Perfect synchronisation of movements → maximum productivity and consistent product weight.
- Ideal for direct comparison with competing electric presses in terms of energy consumption, reliability and the quality of thin-walled moulded parts.
